The foreign office has cancelled its second consecutive weekly media briefing in the wake of a seminar at the Foreign Office on Thursday. Giving justification, foreign office spokesman Abdul Basit said that the briefing was cancelled in the absence of any issue of urgent nature.

Since the Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi held press conferences over the week along with the US special envoy to Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Holbrooke and later with his counterparts of Iran and Afghanistan, spokesman was of the view that all the questions have been answered in those press conferences.

He hoped that there would be no cancellation of weekly media briefing in the future. It is to be mentioned that the foreign office weekly media briefings were frequently cancelled in the recent past due to unknown reasons. It is often observed that due to postponement of weekly media briefings there have been speculative misreporting regarding the international issues related to Pakistan.
